Charlotte in red was born out of two observations.
First and foremost, data shows that female artists and cultural professionals typically have less access to creation and production resources, are paid much less than men and are underrepresented in leadership and other decision-making positions. And this gender bias often extends to how women artists are portrayed in the mainstream media.
Second, the digital space is essential for artists to showcase their talent and grow their audience. But at the same time it is becoming increasingly difficult for artists to stand out and carve their niche, even more so as in the wake of Covid the virtual world has basically become the main stage.
And out of its founders shared passion for digital documentaries, impactful storytelling and visual aesthetics.
In a nutshell, Charlotte in red is about documenting the creative process of women, about showcasing their talent and about giving them a voice.
